Ignite succeeds, but tapes are unreadable...
Hi,
According to ignite, my make_tape_recovery has completed successfully, however, I am unable to read the entire tape. I get to varying places on the tape before either getting: Tar: tape error (5) (implying a bad tape) or a directory checksum error. I should note that prior to upgrading ignite to 6.7.79 was when I received the directory checksum error; now I just get Tar errors. I have stopped at least twice (on three different tapes) at /stand/vmunix. It is most likey coincidence. While I dislike magnetic media, I must get this tape created. Make_net_recovery works just fine and the image is complete, however, I am going off-site and need to build a server from tape.
Steps I have taken:
1) Replaced tapes with new tapes and replaced two DDS3 tape drives.
2) Uninstalled old version of ignite and installed version 6.7.79
I have several questions, and I am hope you can help...
1) Regarding the cpio flag, what are the flags so I can read the tape.
2) Is tar reaching a limitation? I was under the impression with tape and the appropriate O/S patches for ignite, the 2Gb limit is non existant (considering these are 24 Gb drives). The image is 12 Gb
