Thanks in advance.

Re: Ignite Unsuccessful

First thought.

The error:
ERROR: /usr/bin/dd if=/var/tmp/uxinstlf.recovery of=/dev/rmt/2mn bs=2k failed
to write LIF onto tape.
ERROR: Failed to generate LIF on tape .

Leads me to believe that there is an issue with the tape drive. The deactivated vgs should not make a difference. ( not sure why you have them but..irrelevant to this issue ).

Test the functionality of the tape manually, use tar or cpio to write to the same tape device to make sure it works before proceeding.

Re: Ignite Unsuccessful

Some first steps:

- use another (new) tape
- clean the drive

Consider a bad drive, if this doesn't help.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Ignite Unsuccessful

I agree with Torsten. I routinely see this kind of error when my drive is dirty, the tape is worn out, or both.

The tape cleaning cartridge is your friend.
