Is it possible to use Ignite-UX to perform a make recovery tape but to use the tape drive on another HP server on the network to store the image?
Many thanks!

SolutionWhat you can do is create a network recovery (make_net_recovery) to the machine that has the tape drive attached and then you can create an image onto tape from the make_net_recovery image file. For more information see the file /opt/ignite/share/doc/makenetrec.txt. In that file are instructions on how to create a bootable recovery tape from a make_net_recovery archive. The section heading is: Creating a Bootable Archive Tape

Re: Ignite-UX make_recovery to another severs tape drive?
We did recovery testing at Sungaurd. We took ignite-ux tape from N-class server and use it in K-class server to build it. Intially we got some warning messages other that that we did not have any problems.
BUT The system you are recovering with ignite-ux tape should not be on same network as the server you used to create ignite-ux tape.
Have fun..

Re: Ignite-UX make_recovery to another severs tape drive?
You can try this link,
http://support1.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000045744912
The document is also available as part of the ignite software. The path to this doc on your system is /opt/ignite/share/doc/makenetrec.txt
Hope this helps.
