Ignite/UX performance
I am testing the Ignite/UX install with two N-servers. These N-servers have 8 cpu's and 8GB rams. I created a sw depot for hp-ux 11.00 on the Ignite server and completed an install onto the secondary N server as a client. However, the length of time that it took for the install was over 2 hours; doubling the time it would take for an install using CD-ROM media.
Does anyone have any suggestions or know of any parameter that I need to set to improve the performance. I like to see the install time be better than using the CD-ROM media.
Thanks

Re: Ignite/UX performance
According to the HP-UX experts in the UKRC : No , it may seem a case of poor performance but it obviously depends upon the amount of customisation you have done in your golden image.
If there's not much customisation it may well prove quicker to install off media and make the few configurations necessary after the install.
Also the network and it's load will influence time, but in terms of configurable parameters for ignite : there are none.

Re: Ignite/UX performance
Hi Jimmy,
I don't think performance is an issue here. The Ignite/UX dump is doing a write from a previous backup which means it has to check the new components, do a check before commiting a write.

Re: Ignite/UX performance
There are 10 steps for the Ignite install. The two process that takes up most of the time are the 'download the mini-system' and 'load the software' steps. These two processes take over 1.5 hours to complete.
Will it be better if I use the Golden Image menthod vs installing the core OS from the depot?
Thanks
