Ignite UX

Can I HP-UX complete the Installation without giving the IP's and assigne a static IP after the installation has been completed.

After my two servers are ready.. Do I need to create Ignite-UX on the server in Bay 1 or the one in Bay 2 in a C7000 enclosure.

While doing a Ignite UX do I need to give Static IP's to the server.

Re: Ignite UX

NETWORK CONFIGURATION

This system's hostname: HP02

Internet protocol address (eg. 15.2.56.1) of this host:

Default gateway routing internet protocol address:

The subnet mask (eg. 255.255.248.0 or 0xfffff800):

Is this networking information only temporary? [ No ]

Can I skip the above step as well

Re: Ignite UX

Not sure what the question is.

IMHO a server should have a static Ip - always.

If you have a DHCP server running, you can configure and assign a DHCP address.

But why?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Ignite UX

I did not get the IP's from my network Administrator as of now... So I was thinking how to proceed with the installation on my 2nd server so that I can ignite the others

When compared... with the one's in client The Mac addresses that I have given on the server I have are different from the ones I have on the client

For ex: 0x00215af8a67c for the client as entered in /etc/bootptab file on server looks like Mac(001F29F280F4) on the client

I have also logged a call with HP for this and they have elicated this to Level 3...

Re: Ignite UX

Hi,

I could not understand your question at all.

What I guess from your update is that you are trying new HP-UX installation on two servers and you don't have ip to assign them. If i am not wrong system won't allow you to proceed without assign an IP.

What you can do is, assing some temporary ip and continue installation. Later on you can change the ip without any hurt.

And why you are hurry to take ignite backup on new installations?

Best wishes,

Ganesh.

"For ex: 0x00215af8a67c for the client as entered in /etc/bootptab file on server looks like Mac(001F29F280F4) on the client"

???

1) get the MAC address from the client, e.g.

EFI Shell> lanaddress

2) configure this addresses into bootptab on the ignite server

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Ignite UX

Well let attach a document with the screen shots of which explains what I have done and where I am struck.

Let me explain what I have done on this Server. This is a Brand New bl860 Blade shipped with the C7000 Enclosure. I have 7 other similar Blades in this server. And need to Install HP-UX 11.31 on all of them and so making one of the servers as Ignite & then ignite the other Clients.

Re: Ignite UX

I can't see a match between your MAC addresses in /etc/bootptab and any of the clients ... where did you get the MACs from?

I think the most easy way for you is to use the dbprofile from clients EFI shell.

Hope this helps!

Re: Ignite UX

mp00215af8a6c4] MP:CM> ls

This is the MAC of the MP!!!

this one is NOT used by ignite!

You need to use one of the integrated NICs (you already have these addresses - use them or better DBPROFILE).

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Ignite UX

Please take a moment to check it yourself before posting all of your wrong command lines!

;-)

-cip \10.3.90.74

What is wrong (invalid) here?

Hope this helps!
