Ignite/UX

Ignite/UX

Just got a K580 and was hoping to use ignite/ux to build it from a K460 using make_sys_image or make_recovery. Is this possible considering some small configuration differences, PCI instead of EISA cards.

Thanks

Re: Ignite/UX

Hi Joe,

It's possible to do that. And once you finish with Restaure from Ignite-Tape, you may change and install right driver for the specific NI that you have.

Re: Ignite/UX

give it a try, it will surely do most of the job.

create tape with make_recovery -A -C
and boot other machine from ISL

After your box is up, you can include missing drivers in your kernel

Re: Ignite/UX

There is an option within the Ignite/UX menu that comes up when you boot from the tape that lets you tell the system to force a kernel recompile if you are on a different system. This is something you will probably want to do.

I don't remember exactly where in the menu that option is. You may just need to go exploring through all the menu options.

Re: Ignite/UX

Hi Joe

Use make_recovery -i to create the tape and then use to restore , this will ask you the option to chosse instead of running in automatic mode.

All the best.
