Ignite UX

...I think that using an ignite tape from a IA64 machine on a PA-Risc machine probably won't work. I do know that the Data Protector (Omniback) database for the IA64 machine will not work on the PA-Risc one.

Does anyone know the real answer to this issue and/or can anyone point me to where i could ascertain this information?

Your response is very much appreacited

Re: Ignite UX

the tape drive is compatible with both PA/RX. But the DP might have different versions(patches etc) for both PA/RX.

are the DP clients? or the Cell server itself?

Re: Ignite UX

Which issue. The Ignite question or the DataProtector one ?

An ignite tape created on an IA server will NOT work to recover a PA-RISC.

DP. If there are two versions of dataprotector, one labeled IA and another labeled PA then my guess is that one will not work on the other. There probably is a reason why they made two separate ones.

There may however be an option to export a DP DB and then import into another installation ?

Re: Ignite UX

Gentlemen (& Ladies)

the Ignite-UX will be performed on a ia64 (RX2620)server used as our Cell Manager. That info will be uploaded unto a PA-Rics (HP RP7410). Tape drive notwithstanding, will this work?

In one word or less: no. You can load applications this way (using something other than Ignite), but not the OS itself.

Re: Ignite UX

There are also licensing issues in using ignite to copy applications.
