Ignite waits for input on the target console before starting

We have an Ignite server for HPUX 11.23 v2 which we use to create new machinres. Two of these new machines hung, with the console of the target machine wanting input before IGNITE could continue with the build process. The other six machines booted over the lan to the IGNITE server. Any ideas why two machines should want to use the local console?

Thanks

Re: Ignite waits for input on the target console before starting

what information was it looking for? Where is it stopping the Ignite process?

Re: Ignite waits for input on the target console before starting

It asks me basic information such as: do I want to give the m/c a hostnmae, timezone, IP addressing , root password setting and then proceeds to download the IGNITE image

Re: Ignite waits for input on the target console before starting

This is absolutely normal (and desirable in some cases) when the Ignite image was created with the -i option. It is hardcoded in the archive. To make restore/build process automatic, recreate the image without -i.

Why do the other six machines bootup from start to finish ? They use the same IGNITE image as the other two which wait on console input

Re: Ignite waits for input on the target console before starting

Shalom,

There must be something different in the INDEX configuration file or some other aspect of the configuration being used for the two machines that are prompting.

There is a pull down menu in the Ignite interface(GUI) that lets you control behavior of these functions.

Something got missed somewhere.

Re: Ignite waits for input on the target console before starting

you need to verify all the details before you push the image from Ignite server. Something you missed before you push it. also you can verify on the ignite server for /var/opt/ignite/clients/`hostname`/CINDEX file.
