IGNITE

Hi,

I'm running HP-UX 11.0 right now and have an older version of Ignite running on it. How do I obtain the upgrade software and where do I het instructions on how to do and upgrade for it?

Thanks,
RC

Re: IGNITE

The upgrade process would be via the swinstall.

The newer version allows for more flexibility in making your IGNITE tapes.

Example, you can add additional VGs to be on the IGNITE tape. However, IGNITE tapes are NOT to be used as a backup!

Re: IGNITE

Hi Remy:

Download a current Ignite version from the link provided above. Use 'swinstall' and toggle the '-x reinstall=true' option to install the new version.

Regards!

Re: IGNITE

Ignite tapes are a great (and sometimes necessary) way of restoring a boot disk that won't boot. It can save you hours or even days. I have rebuilt a system boot disk in a few hours last year which would have costed me several days to do otherwise.

Re: IGNITE

Hi,

On HP-UX 11.0 use make_tape_recovery instead ignite command. To get more info about:
#man make_tape_recovey

To find several relevant info go http://search.hp.com/gwuseng/query.html?la=en&qt=Ignite
