Hi all. I have been given a great task.

I have been asked if I can explain what

"creation of ignite tape fail" means. I have

googled to no avail. Normally I would look in /var/ignite and investigate for the reason of failure, but I do not have access to the server. Has anyone come accross this actual error message before or is my only real chance is to get someone to allow me access to the server.

So the initial question has anyone come accross this message before.

hi,

normally you could check all incidents/events in :

/var/opt/ignite/recovery/latest/recovery.log

this is always the best way.

if you don't have a access to the sevrer its very dfficult to say what could be the problem.

just this minute got access to the server hpux 11.11

B5725AA C.6.3.324 HP-UX Installation Utilities (Ignite-UX)

I just found out that its a service guard cluster so that makes me feel better about VG02 & VG03 GV not activated.

well i cant see anything wrong unless the resolv.conf was a problem. I doubt it.

But yet is says Completed successfully, so in my eyes that means completed successfully.

Do you agree

yes you have right, the resolv.conf warnig means that you don't have this file and you probably use hosts file name resolution.

Shalom Rich,

generally /etc/resolv.conf is the same for all systems in an organization. Though it should be part of the Ignite image, its trivial to copy it in after the restore is done.
