Hello all:
I have a large install base of C3700 HPUX controllers. Everytime we get a new worstation in we simply restore an image from one of our active, up to date systems. HP is no longer selling the C3XXX series hardware so we now are using the C8000 controllers and I was wondering if the ignite image from one of our C3700's would be compatiable with the C8000 series systems? Does anyone know this and if they are not do you have any suggestions for deployment of a C8000?

Solution
This could work, you should try one and see.
Success may depend on the kind of image you are talking about. A make_net_recovery image is less flexible crossing models than a "golden" generic image created by make_sys_image.
Success may also depend on
- the latest version of Ignite, and/or
- the latest HWE patch bundle, or
- a newer HP-UX release with minimal C8000 support
that may be needed for C8000-specific drivers/software/diagnostics.
Some folks try to maintain one generic image that can install on different models. Others try to maintain one image per model.
If you find yourself supporting a large number of C8000 machines, you may want to start a new image stream just for them.
