image creation of HP-ux

Hello
Could any1 help me in this matter
HOW I'LL CREATE AN IMAGE OF HP-UX ACTUALLY I WANT TO BACK UP THIS IMAGE?
COULD IT BE POSSIBLE THAT IF SYSTEM CRASHES I'll RESTORE THE IMAGE TO START HP-UX AGAIN?

help in this regard will be highly appreciated

Sure Fayyaz,

That's called Ignite. You can either create the image on a tape or on a network share. Tape is the easiest process but network imaging is bullet-proof process.

YOu will need to install the Ignite software. You can get it from here. There is also good documentation available to make yourself familiar with it.

Hi (Again),

I should have added - 'make_tape_recovery' is the command you will need to use after installing the Ignite software. I generally use

/opt/ignite/bin/make_tape_recovery -v -i -x inc_entire=vg00 -exclude=/var/adm/crash -a /dev/rmt/0mn

For availability of the OS, consider purchasing Mirror/UX and mirror your boot disks. Mirror/UX can make the root disk failures transparent. If the hardware allows, you can even replace the failed disks on-line that are part of the mirror.
