Import HP-UX accounts on a linux system ?

Hi gurus,
our mail servers is an HP-UX machine (HP Vizualize Workstations 785/B1000 with an HP-UX 10.20 system).
We will change this machine next year for a new HP server with an HP-UX 11(x) system, but, meanwhile, I want to install a linux machine for a backup in case our mail server is down.
I mean that if our HP server crash, I want to temporarily replace it by a linux server.
My question is regarding the HP-UX accounts : is it possible to export these accounts on a linux system (with password, home directories,...) ?

Thanks in advance for your help

Re: Import HP-UX accounts on a linux system ?

Are you using hp-ux system as trusted system or non-trusted system??

If not trusted, then copy /etc/passwd /etc/group to linux machine and all home dirs.
On linux machine, you will have top prepare the /etc/shadow file with pass extracted from hp-ux's /etc/passwd file.

If trusted system, then you will have to extract the pass from files and then prepare the /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow file on linux.

Re: Import HP-UX accounts on a linux system ?

I'm using HP-UX as trusted system :
- the system auditing is turned on
- on the /etc/passwd file, afer login:, I have an * in place of the encrypted password.
RAC, you told me to extract the pass from files...but which files (there is no /etc/shadow on the system) ?
Thanks again
