Re: importing package info

You do not need to configure a cluster from scratch, but certain steps will have to be done. cmquerycl, cmapplycf. These will vary because, the lan cards, mounts points used will vary. You can use existing package control and configuration files.

Re: importing package info

If you have abother cluster, simply copy the package configuration and control files to the new cluster nodes, make any changes to tghings like IP addresses, subnets, VG's LV's etc, create your storage configuration, and then use cmapplyconf to apply the new package.

Re: importing package info

Your original intent is not very clear. As Melvyn stated, you can copy the package directory of one cluster to another cluster and create that package on the other cluster. Note that you may have to alter the volume group names and relocatable IP & subnet references to suit the new cluster.

Serviceguard prohibits the sharing of LVM volume groups, if you were considering doing so.

Re: importing package info

Thanx 2 all of you.
If you guys tell me the name and location of these files which i have to copy, it would be a great help for me.
Surely, i'll change the IP and relevant LVM configuration

Re: importing package info

Hi
You are willing to change IP and some lvols
If you are going to do, you need to recompile the cluster that means you have to do cmapplyconf for new cluster configuration.

there are some cases accrdance in what you will change.
But it would be better to make the new cluster if you copy and maintain the original files related to cluster

These are
/etc/cmcluster/cluster.asc : cluster ascii file
/etc/cmcluster//.cntl
/etc/cmcluster//.conf

In addition
you may have to configure the vgs you intend to configure.

In conclusion, what you are going to do is the same as you configure the initial cluster setup.

Re: importing package info

Might be all around easier if you can clone your staging server from the ignite tape of the production server. Use the manual instead of automatic restore with ignite and get a jump on the server specifics. Then go back to serviceguard configuration and update.
