Not sure if this thread has already been visited:
I have an L2000 running HP-UX11.00 with the following LAN card:
lan 0 0/0/0/0 btlan3 CLAIMED INTERFACE PCI Ethernet (10110019)
/dev/ether0
I manualy set the speed to 100Mb FD using lanadmin -X 100FD, I have modified the following files:
hpbase100conf
hpsppci100conf
to reflect the change of speed; however, every time I reboot the server the LAN card resets with 10HD Auto_on.
Has anyone got any ideas where I am going wrong???
Rgds,
Kev

Re: Incorrect LAN speeds at Boot
go into "sam"
select "Network and Communications"
select "Network Interface Cards"
and change autonegotiation to OFF
and make your other changes also.

Re: Incorrect LAN speeds at Boot
you have to set set the HP_BASE100_INTERFACE_NAME[0] =lan1 or whatever applicable name of interface. otherwise, the rc script ignores your configuration and uses the defaults.
ONE more thing,
After making changes to the required files,
run following commands
# /sbin/sh -vx /sbin/init.d/hpbase100 start
This will give you the output exit code as well as indications whether your card accepted new value for speed or not.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
-Piyush.

Re: Incorrect LAN speeds at Boot
Thanks for the info; however, I had already modified the hpbase100.conf file with the correct settings:
HP_BASE100_INTERFACE_NAME[0]=lan0
HP_BASE100_STATION_ADDRESS[0]=
HP_BASE100_SPEED[0]=100FD
this was also checked via SAM and was shown as 100 Full Duplex Auto Negotiation Off.
This still reverts back to 10HDAuto-on when I re-boot, I have spoken to the network people and they claim that the swithch is set to 100FD.
I am now totaly confused, I am thinking of outting a script in place which forces the change via lanadmin at boot????

Re: Incorrect LAN speeds at Boot
I would suggest you to check the switch settings. If you have done the card configuration properly, then it should work properly. Do you have any other system in the network which works on 100 ?

Re: Incorrect LAN speeds at Boot
I've had people swear the switch port was configured correctly and the one they were checking was. They just happened to be checking the wrong port.
If not already done, verify the port in question is the actual port being used. It's not uncommon to have them mis-labeled or wrong in someone's configuration listing.
