Re: increase /decrease the lvm online?

Yes you can extend size of lvm online using
lvmextend and then
fsadm
man fsadm

You can also decrease but data can be lost!!!better take a backup before procedding.

Hi

if you want to increase or decrease lvm online, you need online JFS .

Do you have it? if not then not possible.then you need to increase /decrease it offline

Re: increase /decrease the lvm online?

Shalom,

Two way:

lvextend works no problem to expand. It will balk at reduction until the filesystem is reduced.

Two ways to expand/reduce fs.

1) umount and make change *(BACK UP FIRST)
2)fsadm expand/reduce utility which is part of OnlineJFS. Online JFS requires purchase of license and support.

Re: increase /decrease the lvm online?

before decreasing keep in mind that it just cut off in the end, you can use fsadm to move the files to the beginning of the lv.
alway backup to be sure. ps the fsadm does it best work when there are no aplications running in the lvol.
