Increase size lv with SAM, is mirror also increased

I want to increase the size of a lvol under
HPUX11.i. This lvol is mirrored.
When i extend it with SAM is my mirror also
extended ? OR do i have to extend it outside SAM with lvextend -m 1 ?

Hugo,

Yes, doing this through SAM will extend the mirror as well. You can do it manually with lvextend, but you would not use the "-m 1" syntax as that is used to add a mirror. The syntax would be "lvextend -L NNN /dev/vgNN/lvolN", where NNN represents the new size in MB, NN the vg number, and N the lvol number.

Hi Hugo:

Yes, an 'lvextend' of a logical volume affects all mirror copies. Remember that SAM simply leverages standard commands.

I think SAM will take care to set the mirror for you. If you are in doubt, create a new spare mirrored lvol without sensible data and try with it!

Whether you increase the logical volume with SAM or the command line, the primary and any mirror will be done as long as there is sufficient spare extents to do so.

Use SAM or

# lvextend -L /dev/myvg/mylvol
If there is a filesystem involved you need to to unmount it if you don't have onlineJFS. If you do, simply:

# fsadm -F vxfs -b /dev/myvg/rmylvol
