increasing data user limit

How can I increase the data user limit?
When I issue the ulimit -a command I get the following output
# ulimit -a
time(seconds) unlimited
file(blocks) unlimited
data(kbytes) 1048576
stack(kbytes) 392192
memory(kbytes) unlimited
coredump(blocks) 4194303
nofiles(descriptors) 1024
I want to increase the data size to 2015464 kbytes.
I would really appreciate any help.

Re: increasing data user limit

Sauvik,
you will have to change the maxdsiz parameter in the kernel and reboot.

Re: increasing data user limit

You can t change it beyond maxdsiz. Increase that first before you do ulimit -d
There is no substitute to HARDWORK

Re: increasing data user limit

Sauvik,
for these sort of changes I use SAM.
sam &
Kernel Configuration -> Configurable parameters -> Action (modify configurable parameter)
Build the new kernel /reboot

ulimit -d 2015464

Re: increasing data user limit

Hi Sauvik,

You can also use "kcweb" to configure your kernel through a web browser.
