increasing Max PV

Hello;

Is is possible to increase the existing Max PV limit in a VG. The existing Max PV is 6.if possible, how should i go ahead. Please help me.

Unfortunately, Max PV can only be set at VG creation time. The only way to change it is to remove and recreate the VG.

No, 'max_pe', 'max_pv', 'max_lv' and 'pe_size' are fixed at the time the volume group is created (via 'vgcreate'). As yet, there is no way to change them short of recreating the volume group.

The max numbe of pv's is set at the initial vg creation. There is no official way to change the number, other than destoying and receating the vg.

That being said, I have seen several references in this forum to an unsupported hp program called vgmodify that some of the HP engineers have access to. You might want to ask your engineer if he knows of it.........
