Increasing /var and /opt Online or ISL mode

When i try to lvextend it gives this error :not enough physical extents
lvol5 can not be extended
Failure possibly caused by strict allocation policy.

Re: Increasing /var and /opt Online or ISL mode

Hi,

strict allocation policy means: putting no mirror data on the same pv as the original data. So even if you still have space, it can't put data on there. Do you have an odd number of pvs or pvs with different size?

Yes I had,now I have increased VG00 and tried lvextending it worked. With Online-JFS installed I used Fsadm now I get this message:vxfs fsadm /dev/vg00/lvol7 not the root inode of a vxfs file system.

Re: Increasing /var and /opt Online or ISL mode

You need to specify the mountpoint, not the logical volume.

With OnlineJFS the correct command to extend the filesystem is:

# fsadm -F vxfs -b M /var

Remember, wherever you go, there you are...
