Re: Increse MAX PE per PV
The MAX PE is set at the creation of
your volume group. For instance if
you create your volume group with a
4Gb disk, and your try to add a 9GB
disk to that group you will only
get 4Gb. Only way to get the extra
portion of the disk is to create
a new volume group and use that disk
then or add it to a group that has 9GB
disks. This unfortunately cannot be
changed.

Re: Increse MAX PE per PV
You can define the 'max_pe', 'max_lv', 'max_pv' and 'pe_size' only at the the time the 'vgcreate' is issued. Afterwards, you must recreate the volume group to alter these.
Have a look at the man pages for 'vgcreate' (1M) for more information.
In the case of 'max_pe', you will note that "the default value for max_pe is 1016. However, if the size of any physical volume exceeds 1016 times the pe_size, the default value for max_pe is adjusted to match the physical volume size."
Regards!

Re: Increse MAX PE per PV
You cannot increase the max pe value for an existing VG. This value can be defilned at the time of fresh VG creation. Here is a thread on the effect of having a large max_pe value for a VG,

Hope this helps.

Re: Increse MAX PE per PV
Other than that, you can create a new vg and copy lv's across..
I belive someone had a script to do that, search around the forums and you'll eventually find it.
