inet.d causes trouble after login

After I log in in an idle system (11.00 Sept02) as root or any other (nis) inet.d uses 40% usr and 50% sys. If I stop inet.d and start it again, the system is idle again. What is wrong with inet.d ? Why have I to stop and restart inet.d? Is there any config I can check ?
