inetd[914]: hacl-cfg/udp: Access denied for osl09p

Hi All,

I am getting the below error continously in one of the mc service guardcluster nodes, osl03p.

inetd[914]: hacl-cfg/udp: Access denied for osl09p

osl03p is a one node cluster and osl09p is part of a two node cluster. So there is no direct relation between osl3p and osl9p. This has been coming in syslog for quite some time.

Does anybody have idea about this?

Thanks Regards,
Vinu

Re: inetd[914]: hacl-cfg/udp: Access denied for osl09p

Shalom,

Yes there is a reference to the cluster node osl09p in the two node cluster.

If the control scripts are in central location.

grep osl09p *

You will find a refernce though it may be my ip adrress.

Re: inetd[914]: hacl-cfg/udp: Access denied for osl09p

Hi Steven,
osl03p is an independent one node cluster and osl09p is part of a different two node clutser. There is supposed to no relation between the osl03p and osl09p since they are part of different clusters

Re: inetd[914]: hacl-cfg/udp: Access denied for osl09p

The hacl-cfg/udp port is only addressed by Serviceguard commands or port mapper software.

Does osl09p run Openview Operations 8.x software that might be broadcasting too-frequent cmviewcl and cmgetconf -p commands that tickle the hacl-cfg/udp port?

To verify if your node is prone to this problem, you can perform the
following check on the SG cluster node:

# /opt/OV/bin/ovconfget conf.cluster
CLUSTER_TYPE=MC/ServiceGuard (MC/SG)
MONITOR_MODE=true
POLLING_INTERVAL=10000

If MONITOR_MODE=true, the above polling interval equates to every 10 seconds.

If this is the case, you can increase the polling interval or choose to update the OVO agent on the SG cluster node after installing recent OV OVO8.1X Core Agt patches on the OVO server. The patches required are

PHSS_32378 OV OVO8.1X Core Agt HPUX 11 PA A.08.11
and
PHSS_32384 OV OVO8.1X Core Agt HPUX 11 IA A.08.11

To check the version of your OVO agent on the local node, run

# /opt/OV/bin/OpC/opcagt -version

Re: inetd[914]: hacl-cfg/udp: Access denied for osl09p

Thanks Stephen for your update.

The OV version is 7.28 as given below,

[root@osl03p /]# /opt/OV/bin/OpC/opcagt -version
Version: @(#)HP OpenView Operations A.07.28.1 (11/24/04). (OpC20-2720)

Also the ovconfget command is not running as follows,

[root@osl03p /]# /opt/OV/bin/ovconfget conf.cluster
sh: /opt/OV/bin/ovconfget: not found.

Please let me know how to proceed on this.

Re: inetd[914]: hacl-cfg/udp: Access denied for osl09p

You need to find out why osl09p is attempting to talk to the hacl-cfg/udp port on osl03p.

Is osl03p referenced in /etc/cmcluster/cmclnodelist on osl09p?

Is osl03p or any IP assigned to any NIC on that node referenced in any file in the the /etc/cmcluster directory structure?

Re: inetd[914]: hacl-cfg/udp: Access denied for osl09p

Thanks Stephen for your reply.

But there is no entry of osl03p or its ip addresses in cmclnodelist or /etc/cmcmluster directory structure (I "grepped" for this in /etc/cmcluster directory structure)

Re: inetd[914]: hacl-cfg/udp: Access denied for osl09p

were these nodes in the same cluster earlier.? check the cmclnodelist or if any wrong entries in /etc/hosts files.

Re: inetd[914]: hacl-cfg/udp: Access denied for osl09p

enable the verbose login for hacl udp traffic by modifyin the /etc/inetd.conf as below and restart the inetd

hacl-cfg dgram udp wait root /usr/lbin/cmclconfd cmclconfd -p -T 5
