Information of 'diskinfo' command & mirror
I have two physical boot volumes in vg00.After I replaced the mirror with a new drive,I used 'diskinfo' & 'vgdisplay'command to check information. Why 'Total PE' &'Free PE'both disk 's not the same size? What's different of 'HP05' & 'HP07' rev level? what's different of ANSI version '2' & '3'? Any help wolud be greatly appreciated.
Regards,

Re: Information of 'diskinfo' command & mirror
Why 'Total PE' &'Free PE'both disk 's not the same size?
- I don't know - it depends how you re-mirrored your drives? Are the two disks physically the same model?
What's different of 'HP05' & 'HP07' rev level?
- That's the firmware version on the disk. Ideally this should be the same on both disks (assuming both disks are the same model). If you have a support contract you might like to ask HP to upgrade it for you.
what's different of ANSI version '2' & '3'? Any help wolud be greatly appreciated.
- Not totally sure, but I would assume that this is the version of the ANSI SCSI standard that the drive supports.

Re: Information of 'diskinfo' command & mirror
Post the results of
diskinfo /dev/rdsk/cxtydz
for the two drives and the "Physical Volumes" section of
vgdisplay -v /dev/vg00.
You may have a 4G and a 9G (or some other mismatch).

Re: Information of 'diskinfo' command & mirror
Your Total PE and Free PE on your disks looks identical.
In my opinion, your mirror is OK.
About 'rev level' and 'ANSI version', see Duncan reply's.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Zigor

Re: Information of 'diskinfo' command & mirror
Concerning replacing mirror disk: there're some actions to be done to repair mirror in additions to simple disk replacement - for boot disks there're some commands to reserve boot space and load boot code into it, restoring LVM config using vgcfgrestore, and finally syncing vg contents (data).
To check mirror consistency run
vgdisplay -v /dev/vg00
and you'll see if there're any stale PEs. If there're then mirror is not complete - try running 'vgsync vg00' command or reboot server and this command will be run automatically on bootup
