Re: inittab action entry

inittab action entry

I read the man pages of inittab and in the action section of initdefault
" The initdefault enrty cannot specify that boot init start in the single-user state"
What does this mean. What I understand with this sentence is you cannot specify like this
init:1:initdefault:
Is this is correct understanding?

Re: inittab action entry

Hi

the initdefault is the default run level that your system is booting .

the man pages is telling that you can change the initdefault to run level 1 because it is not a sigle user mode .

to boot in a single user mode you must interupt with the ipl and boot with hpux -is or you can also use the shutdown command with no option.

in most cases that initdefault is run level 3 but if you are using vue you need to define the run level to 4 .

you cant define the initdefult to s ( for single user mode )

Re: inittab action entry

By using ISL>hpux -is it will enter into single-user mode. But question was can I enter the rstate value 1 or not?

Re: inittab action entry

I believe you want init S not init 1.
Yes you can specify there.. but why would you want to?

Bring it up from ISL.

It works for me (tm)
