Why 1 and 0 are not used as inodes ?

Hi:

Inode zero (0) is the value for an unused (or deleted ) inode. An inode with a value of one (1), if used, has a filesystem-specific meaning.

An inode number of two (2) is the root directory of a filesystem. It represents a mountpoint and is one way to find all mounted directories.
