I am running an HP 9000 N4000 server with 11.11
This system was running 11.0 with root disk mirrored. Last Saturday, I cold-installed this system with 11.11. Before installing 11.11, I removed the mirrored drive from the sytem just in case I need to fall back. Now the system is running 11.11 and doing fine, I 'd like to put the 2nd disk back in and mirror the root disk over.
As I understand that this N4000 has 2 internal disks and they are hot-swapable.
My question is when I put the 2nd disk back into the system, will "insf" command create /dev/dsk/cxtxdx or I have to reboot the system so that it can see the drive?
Is there any precaution step I need to do before I do this?
Your opinion is greatly appreciated
Thank you,
Tuan Nguyen

SolutionObviously for an internal drive you will need to shut down and install.
Then re-mirror.
Full procedure:

Re: install hard drive
Open the "door" and install the second drive.
Run "ioscan -fn" and you wull see the disk without special files. Now run "insf -e".
After this you can mirror the drive.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: install hard drive
Thank you for your super fast response and thank you for the prodedure.
Forgive me if this is a dump question, but I am confused. The "system spec" says that the internal drives are hot swapable which makes me think that I can do all this while system is in running mode. Can you please elaborate on that a bit?
Thank you very much for your help.

Re: install hard drive
I was able to insert the 2nd disk and ran insf and went on with the mirror without a problem.
Again, thank you very much for all your help. You guys are great.
