Install LJ 8150N on HP9000 (HP-UX 10.2)

Network: NT4 and HP-UX (10.2)
Printers: LJ 5SiMX, LJ 8150N

Having difficulty getting our HP9000 (HP-UX 10.2) to see our newly installed LJ8150N. This printer is an addition to a LJ5SiMX which the HP9000 can see fine. If I remember correctly, there were HP-UX drivers on the CD for the 5SiMX. None for the 8150N.
Running jetadmin from the HP9k allows me to run a test page, however it is unable to access the printer other than ping it. The 8150 is setup as default, but I can't print to it.

Q: Can the 5SiMX drivers be used?

Any guidance appreciated.

You can download the latest HP Jetadmin from the web , ofcourse free of cost. It will support the 8000 series printer.

During the configuration of the queue give the IP add of the printer. Then it should take care.

Hi Greg

Ther are two portions of the problem:

1. Print on 5si which is not the default printer , all you have to do is use lp -d file name . To make this as default printer use lpadmin -dprintername


this will make the prineter as the default printer.

2. To install 8150 load the last release of jetadmin from :

http://www.hp.com/cposupport/networking/support_doc/bpj06102.html

and reinstall it , this has drivers for 8150N

Installing the updated Jetdirect worked. I was able to set the default printer using sam afterwards. All is well.
