install patches in correct order!
I have HP-UX 11.0 June 2000
I have a support CD include the following group of patches.
1- qpk1100
2- xswgr1100
3- xswhwcr1100
I installed 2nd patches [xswgr1100]
Also I installed the diagnostics.
But after that I'm unable to install the 1st or 3rd patches?
why?
is this a order mistake?

Re: install patches in correct order!
if you install the gerenal realese patches you dont need to install the qpk1100 but you need
to install the hardware critical patches .
can you tell me what is the error that you are getting when you are trying to install the wcr1100 ?

Re: install patches in correct order!
xswgr1100 is a GENERAL RELEASE bundle
GENERAL RELEASE:
The general release bundles contains these types of patches:
* general HP-UX core patches
* critical patches to fix problems that could cause data loss or corruption
* hardware enablement patches to update or enable systems or devices
QUALITY PACK bundle:
HP-UX Quality Packs include all stable defect-fix patches for core HP-UX, graphics and networking drivers. HP thoroughly tests each Quality Pack and requires that it pass the same tests as would a new HP-UX operating system release.
If you think you are "missing" some, use the "custom patch manager".

Re: install patches in correct order!
i dont have this cd that i can check ( i have only the last cd from mars 2002 )
the ciritical bundle that you need to install it general realese and hardware critical patches .
you can also check to see if someone have install thid depot and this is the reason that you can install them .
you the command : swlist -l bundle | more
and try to see if someone has install allread this bundle .
you can also send the /var/adm/sw/swagent.log to see what is the error that you are getting in the swagant .
but there shuoldnt bee a problem with installing this bundle of patches in any way that you install them .
