installation faile
The patch fileset "PHSS_33279.LANG-AUX,r=1.0" may only be installed upon a previously installed base fileset. The specification for this base fileset is "Auxiliary-Opt.LANG-AUX,fr=B.11.23.06,v=HP". Since there is no fileset on the target or selected from the source which no fileset on the target or selected from the source which matches this specification, fileset
"PHSS_33279.LANG-AUX,r=1.0" will be excluded.
"PHSS_33279.LANG-AUX,r=1.0" will be excluded.

Re: installation faile
I wish this forum had "stickies" (you know posts that stay at the top regardless of their age), so I don't have to keep responding to this one.
You are attempting to install a patch for a product you don't have installed ( a C or C++ compiler at a guess)
You are probably doing this because the Oracle installer told you you need these patches.
Unless you are going to use Oracle Pro*C or Pro*C++ you do not need the compiler patches.
You can ignore the Oracle installers warning.
Just a guess...

I thought we got Oracle to change their documentation. I did see a thread where it kind of mentioned Pro*C or Pro*C++ but I guess it still isn't clear enough.
I guess we should tell users to contact Oracle next time it happens. :-)

Re: installation faile
Dennis,
You're right - they kind of spell it out for 11g:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/install.111/b32072/pre_install.htm#CIHFICFD
And also for 10g:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b25293/pre_install.htm#sthref111
But I expect the installer itself will still generate warnings for all the patches.
Still now at least I have somweher to point people for this info.
Cheers,
Duncan
