Installation Of HP-UX Fails

I am trying to install HP-UX on a Model 715/100 using an external cd-drive (NEC MultiSpin 4X). During the boot process I press escape to bring up the Boot Menu, then I search for boot devices, then I enter "boot scsi.4.0 install" where (4.0 is the scsi address of the cdrom drive). After I press enter it tries to boot and says "Attempting to boot. Boot process failed. press to Continue."

What am I doing wrong?

Hi Jeremy:

The thread :

describes the same problem - it turns out that you can only use a Toshiba CD-ROM drive for the installation.
nothing wrong with me that a few lines of code cannot fix!

Re: Installation Of HP-UX Fails

Unable to boot from a CDROM is an issue with the processor firmware (which is not upgradable) where the required sector size is not set by default in the drive. Once HP-UX is installed, the driver can setup most CDROM drives as required. Toshiba drives work OK as HP OEM's them. Plexstor drives have been reported to work too.

Turns out it was the cdrom drive. I replaced it with another (an internal-ACER I think) and it works okay. Thanks for your responses.
