Installation of Netscape 7.0
Hi,
1)I had Netscape 4.75 installed on my workstation. Now I need to install Netscape 7.0 I tried downloading the Netscape 7.0 but I got it in ".depot" format. As earlier I had scripts ready for installation of Netscape 4.75 with ".tar" format, does someone knows where from can I download ".tar" format of Netscape 7.0
2) Another problem is the creation of profiles with Netscape 7.0 whereas with Netscape 4.75 there was nothing like that. Now the issue is as follows:
I install the software as "root" user. One of applications on my workstation runs the software as "admin" user. When I invoke the Netscape for the first time with "root" user, .mozilla directory with certain other default directories is created. If then I invoke Netscape through my application everything is fine. However, if I run Netscape, just after fresh installation, through my application(i.e. as admin) it does not get invoked i.e. it fails.
But in case I create .mozilla/admin directory structure with 777 permissions and then run Netscape with admin previliges, it runs fine but I dont know what repercussions it can have. Can someone explain this behaviour and suggest way out from this situation.

Re: Installation of Netscape 7.0
First of all, Netscape is no longer supported by HP. The current supported browser on HP-UX is Mozilla 1.4. You can get it here:
http://www.hp.com/go/mozilla
There is no version of Mozilla for 10.20. The only supported versions are for 11.*.
You might be able to find an unsupported Netscape version for HP-UX on the Netscape site.
Mozilla does require a pre-processing step by the root user to set up some data. Since Netscape 7.0 is based on Mozilla, the same might be true. See the online release notes at the above site.
The Mozilla 1.4 depot creates the files with the proper permissions for multi-user operation.

Re: Installation of Netscape 7.0
Hi
Hello,
I installed Nestscape 7.0 on HPUX 11.00, but learned the hard way that you need to install the following software library depot first:
B6848BA 1.4.gm.46 Ximian GNOME 1.4 GTK+ Libraries for HP-UX 11.00 and 11i
Then you can install the depot format of Netscape 7.0 with the following command:
# swinstall -s //
It should install without a problem.

Re: Installation of Netscape 7.0
I'm kind of wondering whats wrong with the depot format.
HP has provided this great software management tool that makes things easier.
Perhaps try this:
swinstall -s /full_path_of_depot \*
Netscape is netscape, and Mozilla is based on Netscape.
Two different animals with a lot in common.
Mozilla:

Very solid product.
If you want to go with tar, thats cool, delete the old version before you start, just save your bookmark file first,.
