installation of Unix 11i on 745i fails
Hello,
I have tried a clean installation, booting from CD-ROM of Unix 11i on a 745 with 128 Mb.
After (I guess)initialization of graphical card I saw the screen flickering and then the WS hanged up with a black screen.
Is it a problem of the "old" WS?
Thanks for any help,
Alessandra

Re: installation of Unix 11i on 745i fails
Not sure if this is a Xwindows type problem or something more serious .......
If networked : try logging in and checking the syslog.log & /var/dt/Xerrors , /etc/rc.log etc .
If standalone try and see if you get a command prompt to login via ?
Does the system boot OK through the run-levels and only fails at the Graphical Interface / CDE

Re: installation of Unix 11i on 745i fails
Hello again,
I forgot to tell that problems with the automounter and remsh were reported - both are not working as with 10.20.
Any clue?
Thanks again
Ale

Re: installation of Unix 11i on 745i fails
I think you'll need to give us some exact details on what's working and what's not ....
by the sound of it remsh, automounter and CDE are all affected : what's in the rc.log ?
Is the system networked ? What errors are you seeing wrt remsh and the automounter or how do you know there are problems ?
