Installing 11.31 on BL860c on SAN disk - cannot see disk
EFI Boot Manager ver 1.10
System Firmware: 1.01 [4652]
BMC Version: 5.03
MP Version: T.01.22
I created LUN's on an EVA. Im told there is no zoning on the network so I presume everything can see everything - is this correct?
Any idea why i cant see these disks?

Re: Installing 11.31 on BL860c on SAN disk - cannot see disk
Can you see the connection from the server on the EVA? And have you made the disk available to the connection (also on the EVA)?
Even though I havent been working with it for quite some time, I do recall (I think ;-) that you have to have zoning on the switches when running Unix, dont think its supported otherwize.
Yours
Danny

Re: Installing 11.31 on BL860c on SAN disk - cannot see disk
No zoning is a bit unlikely ...
Anyway, you need to present vdisks from EVA to the HBAs of the server - otherwise you will see nothing.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Installing 11.31 on BL860c on SAN disk - cannot see disk
Im told there's no zoning........
When I created the LUNs I had to manually add the WWN's of the ports (which i got from the OA)
Is zoning really necessary in order for HP-UX to see the disks on the SAN?

Re: Installing 11.31 on BL860c on SAN disk - cannot see disk
You need to present each LUN you want to the host WWN from the EVA side.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

The disk is presented to the server also.
Can you confirm this is all correct?

Re: Installing 11.31 on BL860c on SAN disk - cannot see disk
Also, minor nit, but I think that fibre channel uses the term "fabric" rather than "network" although I could be wrong on that. Being a networking guy, it is a nit I'm more likely to pick :)
