Installing 11i on A500

Friends,

I am looking for procedure to install 11i on two A500 systems with no DVD ROMs attached.

11.23 on 1st A500
11.31 on 2nd A500

The 11i media(s) that I have, is DVDs. I do not have an internal/external DVD drive connected to the A500s.

Is there a way to boot this system using the DVD mounted on another system in the network. I have other hpux/linux/aix systems with an internal DVD drive.

Any suggestions ?.

Forget 11.31 - won't work.

Copy the install media to your ignite server (via ignite), then boot the client from and install 11.23.

Be aware - some HBAs may not supported with this version.

Hi,

As Torsten said, 11.31 won't work with this old hardware,

Configure Igninte server.
Create the image with your 11.23 DVD.
Then boot A500 from Igninte and install the OS.

Thank you .. I was not aware you can create an bootable image of the DVD and use it on ignite to boot. Thank you for directions.

You copy depots. The client boots the install kernel from ignite server, then it installs the depots. Just the same like you install from DVD, but faster.

Thank you. For my better understanding,

The DVD media gets copied as a depot.
The installation kernel, Does that come part of the ignite product ?.
