Installing 3COM NIC on HP9000 A500 Unix server
ioscan -M btlan3 -H 0/2/0/0. The following are the results
CLASS lan
Instance 2
Hw Path 0/2/0/0
Sw Unlclaimed
Hw Unknown
Description PCI Ethernet 10
I get the same results when I try and use btlan6 etc.
Can I possibly install the 3Com card on the HP UX A500 server? If, yes then please provide me the procedure, URGENTLY.
The status of the on board card in SAM is 'DISABLED'

Re: Installing 3COM NIC on HP9000 A500 Unix server
CAN a 3COM PCI ETHERNET card be installed on the HP9000 box?
IF YES, THEN WHAT IS THE CRITERIA? CAN I ADD THE 3COM or COMPATIBLE DRIVERS TO THE SYSTEM FROM THE HP UX APPLICATION CD?
WHICH PCI SLOT CAN I USE?
A quick response would be appreciated

Re: Installing 3COM NIC on HP9000 A500 Unix server
I think you are pretty much locked into using HP hardware for your NICs. If this machine is under support, call the HP Response Center and get them to come out and fix the network.

Re: Installing 3COM NIC on HP9000 A500 Unix server
The probability is htey will not have a driver for this.
You will need to get a supported HP card
