Re: Installing DLT8000 on hp-ux 11.0

Did you make sure to connect the scsi cable in front of the terminator on the bus, and not after it? A silly question I realize, but I've seen it happen once.

Re: Installing DLT8000 on hp-ux 11.0

Givi,

What type of server is this and does it have the correct type of bus? I believe the DLT8000 is an HVD SCSI device.

Re: Installing DLT8000 on hp-ux 11.0

You should plug your DLT8000 into this controller only;

ext_bus 3 1/2/0/0 c720 CLAIMED INTERFACE SCSI C875 Fast Wide Differential

Thats where ours are;

ext_bus 21 0/4/0/0 c720 CLAIMED INTERFACE SCSI C875 Fast Wide Differential
target 18 0/4/0/0.3 tgt CLAIMED DEVICE
tape 2 0/4/0/0.3.0 stape CLAIMED DEVICE QUANTUM DLT8000

Re: Installing DLT8000 on hp-ux 11.0

and ensure the stape driver is in your kernel;

> lsdev|grep stape
205 -1 stape tape

Everything is connected fine.
I work on HP 9000/800 ph-ux 11.00
with latest quality pack.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Installing DLT8000 on hp-ux 11.0

Hmm. Sounds like OS is setup aok, and youve connected it to the correct controller, all I can think of now is what kind of DLT8000 is it ? an HP one or what make ? HP's normally like HP compatible DLT drives with firmware on them the HP can talk to.

Re: Installing DLT8000 on hp-ux 11.0

Hi,

Silly question, but have you done insf -e after you connected the drive.

Hope this helps.

Re: Installing DLT8000 on hp-ux 11.0

Hi givi,

I thik you have a Hardware/Connection issue. If the hardware/connection was ok, the system should displya the DLT on ioscan as Unclaimed/Unknown even if the correct river was not in kernel.

Re: Installing DLT8000 on hp-ux 11.0

Try this command
# ioscan -fnC tape.

If it is not showing the device, pl check the cable connections and terminator. Check the SCSI id What is the id you have set in the DLT??? Try changing the id also

I suspect terminator problem. This happens many times with me.

As a last option u can try restrting the server
Don't give up. Try till success...
