How is it possible to install patches or drivers from cdrom on a different server?
rp7400 that i'm installing on doesn't have cdrom drive.
I know how to NFS share a cdrom drive on the machine in solaris, but no clue how to do it in hp-ux. Also, i this machine (the ones cdrom is being used) is not being shared.
Thanks!
Asya

Re: installing from different server's cdrom drive
mount /cdrom
replace /cdrom with what you actually call it.
Make sure the proper parameters are uncommented in /etc/fstab
vi /etc/exports
add
/cdrom
to the list
save
exportfs -av
exports them.
lets say this machines hostname is server1
from second machine:
mount server1://cdrom /server1_mount
/server1_mount is a folder you set up specifically for this purpose, mounting the fs.
Now you are all set. Install away.

Solutionput in the CD into the drive your using.
mount it
# mount /dev/dsk/c2t1d0 /cdrom
vi /etc/exports and add this
/cdrom -anon=65534,ro,root=remotehost,access=remotehost
save the file
# exportfs -av
Go to remote server
# mkdir /rcdrom
# mount origserver:/cdrom /rcdrom
You can also set up the device for use as a depot by registering it. Then it also can be used remotely.
