Re: Installing HP DAT drive with HP-UX
I you are refering to my instructions, then I wasn't clear enough. I don't think that tape drive will work in narrow (50-pin) port on the back of the rp2470. I think it will only work in the 68-pin (VHDCI) connector.

Re: Installing HP DAT drive with HP-UX
Ok, the problem was solved.
Solution, it must be connected to 0/0/1/0, not 0/0/2/0, it doesn't matter if the bootable disk is on that same SCSI bus.
Thank you all for your cooperation.

Re: Installing HP DAT drive with HP-UX
It looks like the drive doesn't want to
switch down to Fast speed. Are the dip
switches set properly? They're located
in a recess on the bottom of the drive.
I believe one of these switches enables
and disables the automatic speed sensing,
but I can't find any documentation to that
fact (thanks, HP).
However, the manual says that for HP-UX all
the switches should be set to ON, except
for the third one, which should be set
to OFF.

Re: Installing HP DAT drive with HP-UX
Hi,
thank you for your response. You seem to be right, the drive can not switch to that speed and this seems to be the main problem.
Dip switches are set according to the manual, all to OFF, except the third one which is set to ON.
