2. I installed the drivers from the Application CD
3. I shutdown the server, and installed the ned card in one of the open HSC slots
The system does not boot, instead it gives me a message telling me to contact HP
I think i must have missed a step here, can someone shed some light?
Thanks!

Interupt the normal boot.
BOOT PRI

You should at least be able to boot now. D boxes are very sensitive to having the correct software to match the hardware. You did install the correct software?
My only other thought is that if this is 64-bit 11x, have you removed all the EISA cards?

Under 10.20, you would get a similar error if you installed the hardware driver for a network card that was not actually installed on the machine.

Re: Installing J3515A on D-Class 11.00 System
There are no Eisa cards installed on this server.
I am not using the turbo Slot, I had 4 slotts free, and am using the one next to the Turbo slot.
Is there any additional software i need too install, or remove?
Do I have to interupt boot, and run a scan to detect the new card. If I remove the card the system boots up normally, I only get the boot failure when the card is plugged in.
Thanks for the replies!

Re: Installing J3515A on D-Class 11.00 System
I wonder if you could provide us with some more detail on your installation:
What model CPU?
Which driver did you install?
What other patches did you install (if any)?
I did note that this card is NOT supported in the D200, in case that's what you have.
If you're installing into something other than a D200, I'll see what else I can find.
Regards,
Dave

Re: Installing J3515A on D-Class 11.00 System
It is a D350 PA-Risc 1 processor.
I'll also be doing the additional Nic add-on to a D380 PA-Risc two, but first I'd like to get this one working and figure out thr e correct procedure.
Thanks!

Re: Installing J3515A on D-Class 11.00 System
You might also try the install on the D380 and see if it works. If it does, then you have a compatibility or patch problem on the D350.

SolutionYour problem seems to be more complex than he forums are typically addressing, or you should supply more information such as the exact error messages being encountered. Also, look in /var/adm/sw/swagent.log and make certain the product installation went correctly.
In checking the http://docs.hp.com website, I found there is a "quick install guide" for this card, but I didn't spot the release notes, which describe some required patches. Since you're on HPUX 11.0, take a look in /opt/networkdocs for the release notes. If you don't find them there, the HP Networking lab has a really nice website with all kinds of excellent info, faqs, and release notes at http://techsolutions. hp.com
The two patches that the release note calls out:
PHKL_18123 -- a patch for PCI services which is highly recommended (but not
mandatory) for HSC 10/100Base-TX (Series 800 on HP-UX 11.0 only)
PHNE_17113 -- LAN cumulative patch required for manual configuration.
(HP-UX 11.0 only)
Note that those a MINIMUM set of patch revision levels.
Hope this helps,
-> Brian

Re: Installing J3515A on D-Class 11.00 System
Those docs were in /opt/networkdocs.
Here is a copy of the pdf's in zip format incase anyone else needs them .
I will give it a shot today.
And let you know how it went.
