Installing Patches on a Remote Server

I have to install the Quarterlly Patches to our remote HP-9000 that is 1800 miles from here.
Is there any issues I should know about if I just sftp the files to a drive on the remote serve then install the patched from a hard drive instead of the CD?

Re: Installing Patches on a Remote Server

You could create a depot on whichever server you want, and just use that depot to install the patches on your remote server.

Ex. : You swcopy your CD to your local server. You then go to your remote server and swinstall specifying the local depot, and everything will be done across the network.
Cooperation is doing with a smile what you have to do anyhow.

Marco,
If the file were on the remote server would the install go smoother? Or there issues with that?

Re: Installing Patches on a Remote Server

Installing patches from Hard drive or CD doesn't matter. You can download (or ftp) the files to your server, invoke swinstall and give the full path of the depot.

You don't need to worry about any issues.
