installtion hp-ux

I want to make an installation on a HP-UX server (B.11.23 U 9000/800). There is already a first installation on this server (OS: HP-ux).
How can I make a full backup before the installation? how can I proceed to make the new installation?
Is this server a 32 bit or 64 bit?

Re: installtion hp-ux

As far as i know 11.23 supports only the 64-bit version of the kernel, but it run 32-bit applications as well.

What is the model of the server ?
Check with :
# model

Re: installtion hp-ux

You can do an ignite backup to tape or an ignite server.

If you have enough disks, you can also take the disk out and replace by another one to save your installation.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: installtion hp-ux

Hi Kacou,

You can take full OS Ignite Backup into your DDS4 Tape by using make_tape_recovery command. It will take 30 to 45 Minutes. After that shutdown the server and boot from the Tape and install HP-UX 11.23.

You can check your server by using following command: #uname -a, and #model.
Your Server may 64 bit.
Please assing point.
Thanks
