Insufficient resource.. iPlanet Webserver
We are running a application on iPlanet Webserver 4.1 SP5, installed on HP Virtual Vault OS on L Class L2000 server.
In the iPlanet log file i came across this error :
[29/Apr/2003:13:02:17] failure ( 1250): Error accepting connection -5974, oserr=233 (Insufficient resources)
Can any one let me know what is this error relating to. Does this has anything to do with kernel parameters, Attached file contains the kernel parameters from sysdef & kmtune command.
Suggestion and inputs welcomed.
Regards,
!!! Naik !!!

Re: Insufficient resource.. iPlanet Webserver
Hi, You didn't say 11.0 or 11i... but:
you got:
maxfiles 1024
maxfiles_lim 2048
Use (on 11i):
maxfiles 2048
maxfiles_lim 2048
also your nfile:
nfile (16*(NPROC+16+MAXUSERS)/10+32+2*(NPTY+NSTRPTY+NSTRTEL))
Use:
nfile 4136 - (16*(NPROC+16+MAXUSERS)/10+32+2*(NPTY+NSTRPTY++NSTRTEL))

Re: Insufficient resource.. iPlanet Webserver
In addition, I would increase shmmax and shmseg. The reason is that these web based products require a lot of shared memory and you might get additonal errors after you correct the first one.
Most products like this should have a manual with recommended kernel parameters for the OS. I know Oracle does.
Thats another thing to think about, what else is running on the machine. The more products you have running, the more generous you need to be with shared memory.
If the product has any recommended OS patches, follow these guidlines religiously. If it requires java, make sure you have the latest version of the java it wants and all the java patches at http://www.hp.com/go/java
Good Luck
