I am trying to enable multi-threads in Integrity Virtual Machine "GUEST".
setboot is not showing Hyperthreading Option. it is only in the "HOST".
There are some queries i need help for;
1- Does multithreads equivalent to hyperthreads?
1- How multithreads can help my oracle DB Performance.
2- How to enable multithreads in HPUX system.
3- Is it possible to enable Multithreading in VM Guest.
4- If i enabled Hyperthreads in the HOST it will automatically enable the same in all the GUESTS served by this HOST?
I appreciate your support.
Thanks
Kamal

Re: Integrity VM Hyperthreading
Anyway, if we are talking about the capability of a Itanium CPU to run multiple threads at what appears to be the same time, then that is hyperthreading.
Hyperthreading is not supported in VM guests or VM hosts:

Re: Integrity VM Hyperthreading
"Integrity VM Version 4.2 does not support hyperthreading. Specify the following
command to turn off hyperthreading; otherwise, Integrity VM will not start:
/usr/sbin/setboot -m off
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Integrity VM Hyperthreading
by the way, multithreading is the equivalent of hyperthreading in NON-INTEL processors e.g SPARC.
