Re: inter process communication.

Hi,

Interprocess communication allows a process to communicate with another process on the same host or a remote host via system calls that access communication connection entities called sockets.

Here is a document that could help you understanding the mechanism of Berkeley Sockets:
http://www.docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/B2355-90136/00/00/1-con.html
or in pdf format:

Best regards,

Dan

Re: inter process communication.

Hi:

Inter Process Communication is commonly referred to as simply "IPC". IPC is the exchange of data between two or more processes.

TCP/IP Sockets, shared memory and semaphores all represent IPC facilites.
