Re: internal slots
You could use ioscan to compare the paths you have with the paths available in the K580. Of course that means you would have to know what paths are available and the easist way is to look at the back of the box where they're all labeled.
I'm trying to find a diagram for you that would give you that info.

Re: internal slots
Go to:
http://www.docs.hp.com/hpux/hw/index.html#K-Class%20Server
and select the I/O upgrade manual. Figure 3-2 will show you the path names for the HP-PB slots (if you zoom in enough). If you have HSC expansion slots, the path names don't seem to be identified, despite the fact the diagram is titled "HP HSC Expansion Slots". Go figure.
Still searching.

Re: internal slots
ioscan -fk
This will list all SCSI controllers and if anything is on them, ie 10/0 should list your system disk (and mirror). If you have some spare SCSI controllers free they will show as SCSI Fast-Wide controller, and no disks or tapes will be listed under them (eg. on path 8/0 or 10/4 or 10/8) which means they are free.

Re: internal slots
Table 3-1 on page 3-8 in the same publication will give you the paths for the HSC expansion slots.
That ought to do it, I think.

Re: internal slots
Yes, if you see no devices listed after them, on that same 10/12 path, they're free. You won't even have to install another card.

Wide Single-Ended
target 1 0/0/1/1.0 tgt CLAIMED DEVICE
disk 0 0/0/1/1.0.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST33670

Re: internal slots
The 10/12 that I see in you ioscan is a parallel interface. I don't see any GSC add-on Fast/Wide SCSI Interface. Is this from the same machine?
