intruder alert

dear all, i have a b1000 workstation in which if i login with an nis user and execute "whoami" i get the message "intruder alert " .but the same user works with the other machines.what could be the problem?

How didi you set up nis client ?. Is there any change in /etc/passwd , group files between your machine and other machines

Check the permissions on the /etc/passwd file. It should be readable by EVERYONE.

It seems to be the permissions of /etc/passwd
