I tried the vgcfgbackup on a volume group, I have the following message:

Can you help me how to solve this problem.
Thanks.

Re: Invalid LVMREC
check whether LANG parameter has ben set to C or not which can be seen using #locale command. if not issue #export LANG=C.

vgcfgbackup vgsapdata
Actually LANG is not set.
I will set to C now to see what will give.

Re: Invalid LVMREC
is vgsapdata is a VG, because in most cases all VG's are named as vg00/vg01... . i think vgsapdata which you have specified is a file system.
eg: tobackup vg00 we use #vgcfgbackup /dev/vg00. The backup destination will be default /etc/lvmconf/vg00.backup.
To force the destination to other file say /tmp
#vgcfgbackup -f /tmp/vg00.backup /dev/vg00

Re: Invalid LVMREC
And we are not obliged to specify /dev in the command. It will be added by default.
If the LANG is unset, It takes the the default value, i-e "C".

Re: Invalid LVMREC
Quote //
NOTE: If the lvlnboot or lvrmboot command returns a message about bad LVMREC, a vgcfgrestore to that disk should fix the problem as long as there is a good vgcfgbackup. The LVMREC backup files are in /etc/lvmconf and can be read or verified with the 'strings' command or `vgcfgrestore -l vgname`.

Hope this helps.
