ioconfig_dump
See the question that has been posed to me:
The way I originally understood this thing to work is as follows:
Assume we are using 220 Hardware Instance #s, out of 255, on HOST01.
Assume Hardware Instance #s 100 - 150 were used at one time, but are no longer used.
Now, perform the ioconfig_dump utility to free-up 100 - 150.
If we add new devices or Zone the Server to a new SAN Array port, will the OS create new device files starting at Hardware Instance # 100, or will it continue from 221?
Will the OS use all of 100 - 150 before starting again at 221?

Re: ioconfig_dump
as it is unsupported and only to be used by HP, very little information available. From what I have found I would suprised if you added new device it would see the "gap" and generate device files starting at 100. Can you specify the device name to be specified?
If you decide to try it, please let us know for future reference what actually happens.
