ioscan - can u see storage?

I have given the output of ioscan . I am remote to the machine. I just want to know if from the ioscan you guys can see any kind of storage. i have compared the lvmtab and ioscan -fnC disk and there are no disks free.I was hoping to see some storage so that i could ask them to add more space.Looks like that is not the case.

# ioscan -fn|more

Re: ioscan - can u see storage?

If free storage has been allocated but you can't see it, run insf. This will create device files for new storage and then you can pv/vg/lv create those volumes:

# insf -e -C disk

Re: ioscan - can u see storage?

You are asking an extremely dangerous question. You see, it's quite possible for a disk (or an array LUN) to be not under LVM or VxVM on any node and yet, to still be "used". An obvious answer would be a raw disk used for database i/o or swap but those are relatively easy to identify. The real "gotcha's" are those raw disks used by some other application. Be very, very careful when you identfify an "unused" disk. The only way to know for sure is to document, document, document. I have one other convention that while not foolproof is probably at least idiot-proof. Whenever a new disk or LUN is added, I run a utility that writes a known data pattern to the 1st 1MiB of the disk. Before I ever use this disk for anything, I check to see if that data pattern is intact. I actually do this with disks that I am going to use immediately because I prefer to avoid code that branches (even if that code is inside my head).
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: ioscan - can u see storage?

I see the disks listed below, plus you have a NO_HW at
disk 1 0/0/1/1.2.0 sdisk NO_HW DEVICE SEAGATE ST318404LC
that *looks like* be a bad disk
